Mothers&Others
Transforming lives and empowering expatriate women
As expatriate partners, leaving our home country, our family and friends, our habits and familiar places can be overwhelming and exciting, and sometimes even terrifying.
There is a mix of emotions that is combined with the logistical aspects of a move.
Dwell Ghana is here to assist you with your home search. Finding your home sweet home is an important box to tick when moving to a new country, but for an expatriation to be truly successful, the integration and emotional part are just as important.
This is why we wanted to introduce you to Inge, a life coach and transformologist that we have met here in Ghana and that can guide you with the emotional side of the move as well as finding your place in all this.
Inge is an expatriate herself which enables her to understand the challenges faced when moving abroad. She has noticed that some subjects tend to come up regularly: a feeling of loss of identity, self-confidence matters and the terrible guilt feeling.
During the Dwell inspiring brunch event that we organized, she brought up several topics that are listed below and that allowed some interesting exchanges within the group:
- How do YOU look at yourself? What are your values? Your energy givers?
- Relationships with your partner. How often are you together? Do you evaluate your expatriation/relationship regularly?
- Relationship with your kids. Are you more protective because of the expatriation? Do you feel the need to compensate for moving them around all the time?
- Relationship with your family and friends back home. Were they happy for you when you decided to move away? Did they blame you? Do you feel guilty?
- Relationships with new friends. Where do you connect with new friends? Are you outgoing? Do you easily connect with people? Or would insecurity hold you back?
- What expectations do you have towards yourself and towards others?
- Do you feel like you are only a mother? A housewife? That you are not really contributing? Remember that you are a key part of a team, become aware of your value! Without you running the family, your partner could not be doing the job he is doing.
Many roads lead to Rome, there are many ways to get there, even with some detours!
Inge’s background and the creation of Mothers&Others
Inge grew up in the Netherlands and has a bachelor’s degree in social work. Her husband is Turkish and they have three wonderful boys.
She worked for the GGZE psychiatry institute in Eindhoven for 18 years in various roles. She followed an additional coaching education and neuro linguistics program (NLP) among others.
She realized that it was the connection with people that inspired her the most and was interested in going in depth with people one on one.
She decided to leave the institute and set up her own business and coincidentally at that same moment discovered Creatrix, a life changing program for women, born in Australia, that raises your emotional intelligence. She decided to follow a one week course that opened her eyes as to what direction she wanted to take for the future.
The program enabled her to see her value and become more self-confident. She discovered that women do need something different than men to realize long-lasting change. For that, their head, heart and gut need to be aligned. To give an example: you can tell a woman a thousand times that she is beautiful, smart or a great leader, but as long as she doesn’t FEEL it and believe it herself, it is not there. Creatrix works with that and taps into your inner wisdom.
Inge believes that you already have all the answers inside of you. You just need someone to guide you to your source. Creatrix inspired her to help other women do the same and fulfill themselves, believe in themselves and trust themselves.
A mother is the core of a family and that is why it is extremely important to invest in them and fulfill them as this positive energy will overflow to everyone around.
Changing one woman will change a family, which will change a community and in the end, could change the world. Inge aspires to this ripple effect and it drives her in her job.
Her coaching sessions enable women to determine their self-limitations and beliefs and to overcome them in order to fully live their lives.
Feel free to reach out to her if you have any questions or concerns, in case you have self-doubt or if you relate to any of the topics mentioned above. She offers discovery calls to find out whether you have a click and want to work together. Inge will shortly be relocating to Dubai herself. She offers online coaching which, in her experience, is as effective as in person coaching.
Keep in mind, you don’t need to overcome challenges alone.
Wishing you a wonderful expatriation journey!
